AUSTIN LANGENSTEIN

BREAKING NEWS!
The Langenstein's are hard at work trying to secure a few deals that would allow Austin to compete at both Big Diamond Raceway and Grandview Speedway weekly in 2010! Things are in the works and Charlie and Austin are pretty excited if the program comes to fruition! Charlie stated, "It will be a top notch deal if things fall into place".
Austin grew up in the Northeast where modified racing flourished. And that still holds true today. Austin has always wanted to pilot a modified race car after being around them all of his life. Austin did have a deal lined up this summer to run a big block modified in Delaware, but with all of the bad weather the deal never took flight. Austin will continue running the FIREFOLD.COM #7 Bandolero at Lowe's Motor Speedway to finish out the year. http://www.firefold.com/
*STAY TUNED FOR MORE ON THE FUTURE OF RISING STAR AUSTIN LANGENSTEIN!

WELCOME CHARLIE & AUSTIN LANGENSTEIN!

Just wanted to give a BIG welcome out to Charlie & Austin Langenstein. Charlie is a big "CPN" fan and just recently sent me an e-mail to let me know. Charlie has a long history in the modified ranks as driver, crew chief and chassis builder to name a few.
Charlie was recently inducted into the DIRT hall of fame in Weedsport, NY. Charlie was crew chief for Brett Hearn many years and also built the Olsen car's Brett drove. He also worked with Danny Johnson and the Troyer cars. Also, some of you may remember the Kneisel car's and Charlie also built some cars for Frank Cozze. Charlie also was the builder of the Bandit chassis that the likes of Rick Schaffer and Ray Swinehart ran. Walt Breeding was Charlie's partner in the Bandit race car chassis business.
Since 2002 Charlie has worked for Hendrick Motorsports with Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon as the team's mechanical supervisor. He has been very instrumental in Johnson's championship season's in 2006-2007 & 2008. They are working hard for another championship this season.
In 2009 Charlie’s main focus will be centered on his 15 year old son Austin Langenstein to develop his motorsports driving career and advancement in the Motorsports world. You can learn more about Austin by visiting www.austinlangenstein.com to see his news and results as he races for the 2009 Young Guns National Championship Title.

GRANDVIEW PROGRAM

Now this is pretty cool! An old Grandview program book with colored pictures of 6 drivers. Eric will like this one seeing Kenny Gruber! Junior Mikosz ran the tri-track circuit for years. I wonder...did Junior ever get a feature win to his credit? Larry Solomon in the 85 was pretty cool. Mayberry 3-wheeling it in the z-95. Billy Schinkel in the 22 on the move. And of course, my favorite CVD in the red rocket 1C! Thanks to Bruce Thomas for sharing this with us! Click to enlarge.

NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPS...AGAIN!

Yes, the Phillies are the National League Champions once again! The Fightin's finished off the Dodgers last night with a 10-4 pummeling to win the series 4 games to 1 over Los Angeles. This will be the second straight year the Phillies will be in the World Series. The last team to make it to back to back World Series visits were the Cincinnati Reds in 1975. Quite an accomplishment. Ryan Howard was named NLDS MVP! The Phils now have to wait to see who will be their opponent. The 1st game of the World Series begins next wednesday October 28th.

SALUTE TO THE TROOPS!

This picture was taken at Syracuse by Bob Yurko. This vehicle drove around the mile prior to the start of the Rite Aid 200. Tell me that guy doesn't look a little like Jamie Weaknecht from ClubWago? Yo Jamie, big wheel races to tank rides...nice!

DOUG MANMILLER

Here is Doug Manmiller tackling the Moody Mile in the Biever #14M. What a sweet looking car. Doug raced his way into the 200 by qualifying in the last chance race. Doug wasn't quite as lucky in the big race as he was only able to record 23 laps on the mile before retiring.

TOUGH ONE FOR STRUNKY!

We were hanging out between turns 3 & 4 for the last chance race rooting on Strunky, Manmiller & Toby! While Jeff was running 3rd and hugging the bottom through the turn he caught the inside guard rail and just looped the car around instantly. Tough break for Jeff as he was in a qualifying position. Man, what a tough weekend for the Grandview point champ.

LITTLE DUDE!

Bob Yurko happened to catch a picture of this little dude that was in the Lineman/Tobias pit crew! We watched him right in the middle of all the crew getting the USA-1 ready to run the 200. He was leaning up against the guardrail right before the big race chowing down on a big honkin' sandwich. He was GREAT! We said to each other that it would have been great to get a picture of him. Thanks to Bob Yurko, we were able to see this little guy cleaning off one of the over the wall crew helmets!

BIG WHEEL RACE!

Here is an action of us pulling out to a quick start at the big wheel race friday nite at Syracuse. Obviously my legs were tooo long for this ride! I kinda used them as rub rails...haha! That's Richie Pratt and his girlfriend next to us. All the way on the left of the picture you can see the back wheels of that ride. That big wheel smoked everyone no matter who was aboard! Oh well, it was alot of fun! I know...you can't tell by the look on my face! (Click to enlarge)

BILLY DECKER!

We headed out for a beer next to our hotel at a place called Tully's in Liverpool, NY. You'll never guess who was sitting at the table next to us? Yup, the one and only Billy Decker! Billy was nice enough to let us get a picture with him. The guy with him commented on Steve's Penske hat, "Oh man, he's even got a Penske hat on". Billy runs Integra shocks. I was really surprised he didn't comment on Eric's Enders racing engines t-shirt. Pretty cool talking with Billy.

SYRACUSE FLAGMAN!

This flagman is the MOST active flagman I have ever seen in my life! He is always jumping around, hanging off the stand with his wild flag waving ability! Not often that you really watch a flagman (no offense Ray, haha) but this guy really can get your attention quickly. If you get a chance give him a look! (Bob Yurko photos)

OH BOY! NOT WHAT I WANTED TO SEE!

Here is a nasty shot of the mile at Syracuse! Looks to be rain all day tomorrow too! Oh well, we will surely find something exciting to do! Saturday & Sunday look to be shaping up!

JEFF STRUNK!

STRUNK WINS NASCAR CHAMPIONSHIP FOR PENNSYLVANIA
Honored As One Of The Top Drivers In North America

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Oct. 6, 2009) – NASCAR has announced that Jeff Strunk has
won the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Pennsylvania championship.

Strunk, of Mohnton, Pa., had two wins, 11 top fives and 16 top 10s in 19 starts, racing at
Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, Pa.
Just 28 drivers out of the thousands of participants in NASCAR’s grassroots, local-racing
program – which encompasses tracks throughout the United States and Canada – earned a
similar honor.
Strunk will be honored Friday, Nov. 13 at the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series
Awards Banquet at the Concord (N.C.) Convention Center along with the NASCAR Whelen All-
American Series national champion, U.S. state and Canadian provincial champions, track
champions and special award winners.

The NASCAR Pennsylvania champion was determined by the driver’s highest 18 finishes
at NASCAR sanctioned tracks within the state.

The crowning of champions in a U.S. state or Canadian province continues a tradition of
honoring the best short-track racers which dates back to the earliest days of NASCAR.
Since its inception, NASCAR’s national short-track racing series has served as a
springboard in the careers of many top drivers. NASCAR stars Greg Biffle, Clint Bowyer, Jeff
Burton, Kurt and Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick,
Bobby Labonte, Jamie McMurray, Elliott Sadler and Brian Vickers all began their careers racing
their local short tracks.

SUPER DIRT WEEK IS UPON US!!!!

Monday, October 5, 2009

KING OF THE MILE!

Weedsport, NY — It’s one of the most historic racing venues in the country. For one week — one Super DIRT Week — it welcomes more than 120,000 fans, more than 1,000 campers, and nearly 500 competitors. It’s the New York State Fairgrounds, and this year count four World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series superstars among the list of competitors in a special four-lap exhibition that returns winged Sprint Cars to Syracuse for the first time since 1995.
The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series has a storied history at Syracuse, with some of the biggest names in racing earning victories at the Mile, including Steve Kinser, Sammy Swindell, Doug Wolfgang, Dave Blaney and Billy Pauch. Kinser was the last World of Outlaws winner at the Moody Mile. He’ll return on Friday, Oct. 9, and take on three of his World of Outlaws competitors, including championship contender Jason Meyers, to decide the King of the Mile.
“I always enjoyed running the miles and I had a lot of success at Syracuse,” said Kinser, a 20-time World of Outlaws champion and a five-time winner at Syracuse. “I have a lot of great memories of that Mile. The best race was when me and Jac Haudenschild went back and forth several times through traffic at crazy speeds, that was a lot of fun. This event should be great for the fans.”

The event will be a sneak preview of the World of Outlaws New Yorker 25 on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Rolling Wheels Raceway in Elbridge, N.Y. With only nine points separating three-time champion Donny Schatz and Meyers, and only another 29 points to Joey Saldana, every race is critical to the overall championship as the season winds down to the World Finals Nov. 5-7 at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

“The King of the Mile will be a great opportunity for the Super DIRT Week fans at the New York State Fairgrounds to get up close to the World of Outlaws drivers and cars during the day on Friday, pick up a couple autographs and see these cars four wide on the Moody Mile,” said World Racing Group CEO Brian Carter. “Steve Kinser is the sport’s icon and has been one of the most successful drivers at Syracuse, so having him return to show a new generation of fans what Sprint Cars can do on the Mile will be one of the most exciting history lessons they’ll ever see.”
