Austin Langenstein finishes 3rd at Concord Speedway!
9/22/13 Austin
Langenstein finishes 3rd at Concord Speedway!
Austin Langenstein and the #7 Cray team were back out at Concord Speedway on
Friday night 9/20 for the fall series. Austin would qualify 3rd in the very
competitive field of legend drivers just missing the pole position. Austin would
race hard from the drop of the green flag and would get up to the 2nd position
and chase down the leader, the race would end up being an awesome 3 car battle
for the win. Austin and drivers of the # 03 and # 38 cars would race hard for
the top spot, Austin would make a charge for the lead but ultimately get moved
out of the groove for the 2nd spot and he would drop back to 3rd where he would
finish! Austin said after the race- " The car was real good early and were
battling for the lead, I started to get loose off the turns as the run went on.
The thing that surprised me was that the race went with out any yellow flags. I
was trying to get by the 03 for the lead but the 38 moved me up and I ended up
3rd." The team planned to race again on Saturday night but Mother Nature had
other plans and do to heavy rain the track cancelled the events. The #7 team
will be back in action on Friday night 9/27 for another race! As always the #7
team would like to thank- -Cray Motorsports,

weekly at Grandview Speedway with Dan Green at the wheel. Amy Marie

AUSTIN LANGENSTEIN UPDATE!
Langenstein scores a 2nd &
4th place finishes in return at Concord Speedway!
9/15/13
Austin
Langenstein and the #7 Cray team returned to the track for a double header
weekend at Concord Speedway on Friday night 9/13 and Saturday night 9/14! After
a few tough luck races recently, Austin shook his bad luck on what other day
than Friday the 13th. Austin qualified in the 3rd position and would work
quickly to get up to the 2nd position. Austin and the 3rd place competitor would
race hard and at the half way point of the race the 3rd place car got into the
3rd corner a little hot and got into Austin's LR bumper and spun him out. Both
Austin and the other driver would be sent to the rear of the field and in the
last 12 laps Austin would make some awesome passes and get back up to the 2nd
position where he would finish! Austin would also pick up the Dave & Busters
Hard Charger award for passing the most cars during the night. Austin said after
the race- "This was only my second ever start at Concord and first off the year
and to finish 2nd, isn't that bad especially after getting spun. The car was
super loose and I was almost spinning every lap, I will make changes for
tomorrow!" Austin would make some changes to the #7 car on Saturday morning.
Austin would qualify 2nd on Saturday night and would race right on the back
bumper of the leader and they would have a great battle with Austin about to
pass the leader with 3 laps to go as the yellow flag came out. Austin would get
a good restart and was side by side for the 1st position going in to turn 1 when
the two would make contact sending Austin into a spin and he would do a 360 and
only lose 2 positions putting him in the 4th spot where he would finish. Here's
what he had to say-'' I was still to loose for the first few laps after getting
going, it was better then last night but still to loose, I didn't want that
yellow as I was passing the #16 car, I got a good restart after the green came
back out and we were side by side for the lead going into 1 but we made contact
and he pinched me down and it spun me out, I'm glad we only lost 2 spots but I'm
also disappointed we weren't able to get the W.'' The #7 team will be back
racing on Friday night 9/20/13 for another shot at the win. The whole #7 team
would like to say ''Thanks'' to -Cray Motorsports,

BPG FREEDOM 76 RESULTS (Bruce Thomas photos)
JEFF STRUNK EARNS
MORE THAN $25,000 AS WINNER OF SECOND STRAIGHT BPG RACING FREEDOM 76 AT
GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA
September 15, 2013 . . . For the second year in a row Jeff Strunk was able to
take home the big bucks in the $25,000 to win 43rd Annual BPG Racing
Freedom 76 at Grandview Speedway on Saturday. The win gave the nine time track
champion his fifth victory in the Freedom 76 Classic and helped his mom
celebrate her birthday. More than 70 racers, many of the top names in the sport
including five former Syracuse DIRT Classic winners, tried to earn starting spots in the 33 car
starting field with a very large crowd on hand.
Rick Laubach took the lead at the
drop of the green but Jeff Strunk, coming from 4th starting position,
went to the front on the second lap and set the pace for the entire 76-lap race.
Canadian racer Stewart Friesen, a pre-race favorite, came to a stop in the
fourth turn early in the race done for the night earning a last place finish.
However Strunk’s winning effort was not as easy as it might seem for the veteran
racer and his Keizer Aluminum Wheels sponsored
modified.
Early in the race Ryan Watt, a
regular at Bridgeport Speedway, moved into position to challenge Strunk for the
lead and continued to challenge him through the 44th lap. Billy Pauch
Jr. ran third for 19 laps before Meme DeSantis, coming from 16th
starting spot, moved into third and put pressure on second place Watt.
With one third of the race completed track champion Craig
VonDohren, considered a pre-race favorite, tangled with an infield marker and
damaged the front end of the race car putting him out of the race just as he was
starting to make his move through the field.
At the 43-lap marker a fuel stop
closed up the field on the leader. Just two laps later DeSantis charged into
second and put pressure on the leader. With 50 laps completed Duane Howard, who
had started in 24th position, moved into third place. The top three
battled for the top spot for the final 26 laps but despite some strong efforts
could not catch the hard charging Strunk.
With the checkered flag waving Jeff
Strunk, who calls Pottstown home, was able to claim the win in the rich classic
by a narrow margin over Temple’s Meme DeSantis and Oley racer Duane Howard.
Fourth place was earned by New Jersey racer Ryan Godown, coming from
21st starting position, while Ryan Watt, Boyertown, a challenger for
the top spot for much of the first half, finished
fifth.
Just prior to the start of the BPG
Racing Freedom 76 Ernie Saxton, track announcer for 45 years, was honored with
his own microphone a beautiful photograph signed by many of those involved in
the racing at Grandview. Saxton has announced his retirement as the official
announcer but will continue to handle the public relations and marketing which
has done for 47 years.
Qualifying heats,
12 laps each, were won by Ryan Watt, Kenny Gilmore, Keith Hoffman, Meme
DeSantis, Doug Manmiller, Ryan Godown and Stewart Friesen. Consolation races,
each 10 laps, went to Frank Cozze and Kyle Borror.
The Schaffer
Motorsports Minuteman 20, giving the top four finishers starting spots in the
BPG Freedom 76, was won by Jon Kellner Sr. followed by Ray Swinehart, Kevin
Hirthler and Don Norris Jr.
In the Mertz
Flying Dutchman Cash Dash, featuring heat winners and guaranteed starters, was
won by Craig VonDohren earning him $1,000. VonDohren’s crew won the $500 tire
changing contest.

ERNIE SAXTON RESIGNING AFTER FREEDOM 76
After 45 years as the track announcer, Ernie Saxton has announced that the
43rd edition of the BPG Racing Freedom 76, he has announced them all,
will be his final appearance as the track
announcer.
“It is time,” said Saxton. “It has
been great to be the announcer here for so many years. The racers made it easy
because they presented so much action on the track. However at 72 I figure it is
time to work on my bucket list. I will still be involved handling the PR,
advertising and sponsorship but I will not be a regular Saturday night fixture
here at Grandview Speedway.”
