MINERSVILLE – Those pesky April showers that bring May flowers found northeastern Pennsylvania on Friday and along with an unfavorable weather forecast, Big Diamond Speedway promoter Jake Smulley has cancelled tonight’s racing card.
The track was able to get in several events in April as the CJ’s Tire & Automotive Services 358 modified division had three different winners in as many races while the U.S.S. Achey sportsman division was dominated by Brandon Grosso who won three of the four events.
Several different drivers visited victory lane in both the Savage 61 roadrunners and the No Sweat Service Group street stock divisions in April. The stock cars once again provided side-by-side action for the fans.
The track will welcome two tour series in the month of May.
Brett Deyo’s Short Track Super Series arrives on Tuesday, May 10, for the Anthracite Assault and the American Racing Drivers Club midgets will make their first appearance of the season on Friday, May 13.
The first race of the month takes place on the 6th with a four-division show of 358 modifieds, sportsman, roadrunners and street stocks.
The STSS race is a 50-lapper for the combined North and South regions on May 10 and pays $5,000 to win and $400 to take the green. There is a special start time of 7:45 p.m. for the race on May 10. The race will carry a rain date of May 17.
The sportsman portion of the racing card will be the first race in the seven-event STSS Open Sportsman series. The 25-lap feature pays $1,000 to win and $125 to take the green. Also on the card that night will be the 600 modifieds.
On Friday, May 13, the ARDC midgets will join the 358 modifieds, roadrunners and vintage cars for a four-division show whle the Red White and Blue Auto sportsman challenge and Kim’s Kreations Mechanics race highlights the May 20 card. There will be no 358 modifieds that night.
The month wraps up on Friday, May 27 with the Mark’s Service Center Night; Gone but not forgotten memorial race. The vintage cars will join the 358 modifieds, sportsman and roadrunners that evening.

Week 3 Brings Success For The Little Anthony’s Pizza And Grille #46! (SDS Photo)
Coatesville, PA – April 23, 2016 –
Last week wreckers, this week checkers! The G & H Motorsports team
worked all week to get the Dan Green #46 NASCAR Whelen All American BRC
Dirt Late Model back on the track. Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville
PA is where the Little Anthony’s Pizza and Grille #46 runs weekly.
Heat Race
Starting 2nd in the first 8 lap heat race after rookie #00 Eric Hoch chose to start in the rear, Dan looked to take the lead right off the bat. The green flag waved and Dan drove passed Shawn Horning #8M and took off to a big lead when the first caution came out for Horning on lap 3 who spun in turn 2. The restart had Drew Weisser #19 on the back bumper of the Ken’s Towing #46 as Dan again drove off to a comfortable lead. On Lap 5 Hoch made contact with the frontstretch wall for the final yellow of the event. Dan cruised to his first heat event win of 2016 and had the fastest time overall for the Late Models with a 14.999 time with an average speed of 80.005 mph on the fast 1/3 mile track.
Crew Goes To Work
Scott Green, Cathy Green, Jim Alexander, Debbie Dutter, Jennifer O’Shea, Brett Higginbotham, Michael Wynne and Dan went to work to get the car ready for the feature event.
Feature Event
Dan took to the track starting on the pole for the 25 lap main event for the BRC Late Models with the defending and 6 time Champion Chuck Schutz #1 starting second. The green flag waved and Dan took the lead holding off Schutz as they raced around the track. A good battle between Dan and Schutz lasted until Lap 4 when Schutz was able to get by and take the lead. After a Lap 5 caution Dan had a great battle with Lou Egrie Jr #4e for second with Dan slowly driving away. With cautions on laps 12 and 15, Dan was able to hold off all other challenges to follow Schutz across the checkered in second. The team would like to congratulate Schutz and his team for their win as they have also had a tough 2016 so far.

Racers Always Say "There Is Always Next Week".... Dan Green #46 Is Saying Just That! (Cathy Green photo)
Coatesville, PA – April 16, 2016 –
Snow halted the racing program last week so the G & H Motorsports
team was ready for a good night of racing. Well all hopes were dashed on
lap 5 of the 8 lap heat race. The #46 NASCAR BRC Dirt Late Model driven
by Dan Green will need some extra work but will be back strong next
Saturday Night.
Heat Race
Dan started the 8 lap heat race in 3rd after rookie #00 Eric Hoch chose to start in the rear. As the green flag waved Dan moved the Scott Select Pre-Owned Cars #46 into second passing Drew Weiser #19 on lap 1. Dan followed #33s Bryan Sipe until lap 5 when Sipe was trying to lap the #2D George Irwin, contact was made between Sipe and Irwin and the #2D spun. Dan drove to the outside of the two cars and just as he saw an open spot to go, Irwin came up the track and hit the left front of the #46 damaging the LF suspension.
Crew Goes To Work
Scott Green, Cathy Green, Jim Alexander, Phil Jelke, Alan Cullen, Debbie Dutter, Jennifer O’Shea, Brett Higginbotham and Dan all converged on the damaged car to get it repaired for the feature event. Some members repaired the left front suspension others worked on the feature set-up, fueling the car and checking the line-up to see where Dan would start.
Feature Event
Dan started the 25 lap feature event 18th in the 19 car field. The green flagged waved and Shawn Horning #8M spun collecting Lou Egrie Jr. #4e and Dan. Another try at a restart ended with a red flag for a multi-car accident, as Dan was stopping for the cars in front of him, Horning didn’t stop as quick and bumped into the left rear with minimal damage. After the clean up and the track was ready the green came back out and Dan completed 1 lap before he had to pull off from damage from the Horning spin. Dan finished the event 15th and now sits 13th in points after two weeks of the season. The team surveyed the damages on Sunday, have a list of things to accomplish this week, and will be back next Saturday ready to challenge the Grandview Late Model division!

BECHTELSVILLE, PA April 8, 2016 . . . The groundhog seems to have
been wrong. His prediction of spring weather did not hold true and Grandview
Speedway management was forced to postpone their Saturday, April 9th
NASCAR stock car racing events and reschedule them for Saturday, April
16th.
That means the Modified racers will have to wait a few more days to have
their chance to race in the T.P.Trailers NASCAR 358 Modified 35-lapper that
rewards the winner with $3500plus. All the same talents will be returning
including opening night winner Craig VonDohren, Duane Howard, Jeff Strunk, Meme
DeSantis, Doug Manmiller and a long list of others as they battle for top honors
and the big bucks.
A full series of qualifying events will lead up to the 35-lap main event
featuring 28 starters.
Also the BRC Late Models and Sportsman stock cars will run in qualifying
events topped off by 25-lap features in each
division.

free.
The 5 p.m. Low Down and Dirty Meet and Greet will feature the same
drivers with their cars on display as were scheduled on April 9. Included are
NASCAR 358 Modified driver Steve Swinehart, Late Model talent Eric Hoch and
Sportsman veteran Dean Bachman.
Then on Sunday (April 17th) at 1 p.m. a full show of Outlaw
Enduro and Blast From the Past Vintage Car racing will be
