JASON HAMILTON!

Just recieved an e-mail from Jason!

ERWINNA, PA - Jason Hamilton will be a weekly regular on the Grandview (Pa.) Speedway clay after all in 2009. Hamilton has set plans to return to the track's NASCAR Whelen All-American Series 358-Modified division driving for the newly-formed Bert Jones Enterprises team. Jones operates Beer City of Quakertown, Pa., a sponsor of Hamilton's racing efforts with Doug Flurer over the last two seasons. The team will run a Bicknell chassis with a new small-block powerplant built by Morrison Performance of Fulton, N.Y. The car will be outfitted with the No. 15, a trademark of Hamilton's early career in Sportsman and Micro-Sprint racing. "Bert stepped up when we needed it," Hamilton said. "He is the diehard fan out of the stands who wanted to help out the little guy." The car will be maintained at Hamilton's shop in Erwinna, Pa. Primary sponsorship support comes from Adams Glass & Aluminum Inc. of Allentown, Pa. A completely-revamped Jason Hamilton website will be launched in March. Keep checking www.jasonhamilton16.com for updates.Jason Hamilton President

RYAN GODOWN!

Reported by BRETT DEYO:
RINGOES, NJ - Call Ryan Godown a two-night-per-week racer after all.The Ringoes, N.J., driver has set plans to return to Big Diamond (Pa.) Raceway regularly on Fridays the 2009 season, in addition to a full schedule of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series 358-Modified racing on Saturday nights at Grandview (Pa.) Speedway.Godown, a former New Jersey big-block star who made the switch to Pennsy 358-Mod action last year, had originally announced a plan for racing only at Grandview for Johnny Rea's JR Motorsports operation. However, Godown said the competitor within wouldn't stand for it."I couldn't sit home with all my competition there on Friday nights," Godown said. "I want to be there. I'm not a guy who runs away from competition."Godown and Reading, Pa.'s Rea are combining forces for the Big Diamond effort.Godown purchased a brand-new Teo-Pro car, which will be outfitted with one of Rea's small-block engines. Rea has two Fords and a Chevy in his arsenal. The car will sport the No. R1 and will appear identical to the green-and-black Teo-Pro mount he'll run on Saturdays at Grandview - made public in mid-January during Motorsports 2009 at the Atlantic City (N.J.) Convention Center.Godown already switched from a Bicknell to a Teo-Pro chassis for Grandview in '09. He opted to purchase a second car from New Jersey car builder Bobby Hearn for Big D."Bobby and I have always had a good relationship," said Godown, the nephew of dirt-track legend Stan Ploski. "We switched to Bicknell a few years back when New Egyppt (N.J.) was real rough. I'm glad to be back running Teos again."The 33-year-old can hardly wait for his sophomore season on the Pennsy Dual-Track circuit. "We are going to give both tracks 110 percent this year," Godown said, adding, "I think we should be a little better prepared now with a year under our belts at both places."While he won a feature at Grandview on Aug. 23 and placed third in the Bechtelsville, Pa., oval's point standings, Godown never finished better than second at Big D. On-track misfortune left him ninth in the standings."We had good cars at Big Diamond last year - we just didn't get that win we wanted," Godown said. "There were a lot of nights we were better there than Grandview. We just need a little luck."In addition to weekly 358-Modified racing at Big Diamond and Grandview, Godown will compete in select big-block Modified specials driving the No. 26 he co-owns with Greg Schatzel. He plans to be at Hagerstown (Md.) Speedway on Feb. 28 to start the season.

Here is a great picture from Lester Potts from Schaeffers Race Day outing! Kyle always has extremely detailed and sharp looking race cars! We met Kyle for the 1st time at Syracuse in 2007 when he ran the sportsman race. We had a good chat with him at Rolling Wheels that year! He ran an impressive race at the Moody Mile! He is one hellava nice guy! Since then we have ran into him on several different occasions! Glad to hear he is back in the 358 ranks & ready to do battle! I sure wish he would return to Grandview full-time! He sure gets around that place well! Good Luck this season to Kyle at BDR!

MATT KENSETH!

Kenseth wins shortened 500
Winless in 2008, Matt Kenseth started 43rd in the 2009-opening Daytona 500, but after a multi-car crash involving several lead cars found himself in the lead when it began to rain. After a short red-flag period, NASCAR called the race 48 laps from completion!

DAYTONA 500

Today is the running of the Great American Race...the Daytona 500! My gut feeling tells me that the Alien, Kyle Busch will win today! Hopefully this post will work as a jinx!

Here is a great shot of Jeff Strunk in his part-time office of the Joey Grammes modified! Thats an awesome helmet done by Brian Hirthler at 4 Star Lettering! Mr. Modified (Steve) visited the Gagliardo/Strunk compound in Reading tonite! He said he was talking with Jeff who was very nice and talkative! Jeff said they are going to run Hagerstown in 2 weeks with a Bicknell since the TEO's are not ready! Jeff also said he never runs full-throttle at Grandview!! He said you have to have an easy foot to go fast there! 18 out of 22 races this past season he never had it to the floor board! Pretty cool! Who would have known! Good questions & answers from Mr. Mod! 50 more days baby!!!
(Jim Young photo)

NAME THE DRIVERS-YEAR-TRACK THE CAR RAN IF YOU CAN!

ADDISON MEITZLER!

Thanks to Jamie on ClubWago he had a picture of Terry Meitzler's son Addison's car! Looks good! This will be one of our young guns at Grandview this season! I like the "21" that Terry carried on his cars thru-out the years! I also noticed the Corner Stone auto sales sponsor. Isnt that where Roger Updegrove works? Jamie has a great report on Big Diamond in his latest update that is very good! BDR will have a TON of heavy hitters this season!

Here are some modified pics from Grandview which seemed to have come from a yearbook in 1991! Pretty cool stuff! I am sure Eric is liking this one with Kenny Gruber! I honestly dont remember Larry Solomon in the Duncan 85am. I sort of remember Billy Schinkel in the 22. The rest all are familiar! How bout CVD with the B&F General Machine 1C of Bob Faust!! SUPER BOWL SUNDAY!

Will Big Ben get another Super Bowl ring today? I think the Steelers will have the Cards covered today! I am going with a 24-13 final! I think LeBeau will keep Larry Fitgerald & Anquan Boldin in check and get a little physical with them at the line of scrimmage! Arizona's running game will produce nothing! Pittsburgh will get it done!
