NASCAR POINTS WILL BE AWARED FOR MODIFIEDS IN THUNDER EVENTS
BECHTELSVILLE, PA March 19, 2015 . . . The weather has shown some improvement and that means the Free-To-The-Public practice session is set to take place at NASCAR sanctioned Grandview Speedway on Saturday, March 28th starting at noon.
Racers from all forms of racing are welcome to participate the afternoon sessions that will give all racers ample time to test and tune the new equipment they will be using for the 2015 season.
Practice day gives fans a great opportunity to see what their favorite racers will be using in competition during the new season. And it is an opportunity for fans to bring fans out and introduce them to auto racing at no cost. It is also an opportunity for fans who would like to take advantage of a money saving season’s pass to do so. The passes, including a reserved seat for the entire Saturday regular season, will cost just $350.
Practice day is also a great opportunity for race teams to make arrangements for their NASCAR licenses which is required to be able to get into the pits during the season.
Enduro racing competition will be the big attraction on Sunday, March 29th at 1 p.m.
The official season opener, kicking off the 53rd season of stock car racing, is set for Saturday, April 4, 7 p.m. when the NASCAR Whelen 358 Modifieds will be in action along with the BRC Late Models and Sportsman stock cars. Adult admission is just $15 while youngsters 11 and under are admitted free.
Defending champion Jeff Strunk will be looking to win his 11th NASCAR 358 Modified title but he will have strong competition during the season from multi-time champions Craig VonDohren and Duane Howard along with Doug Manmiller, Tim Buckwalter, and a host of others.
In the BRC Late Models a new champion will be crowned as the 2014 titleholder Randy Stoudt has retired opening the way for racers such as Chuck Schutz, Joe Fanelli, Dan Green, Lou Egrie Sr. and Jr. plus a number of others to win the title.
And in Sportsman competition Jared Umbenhauer, the champion for the last three years, is moving on up to the Modifieds opening the door for a number of talents to claim the title.
Modified racers taking part in the Thunder on the Hill midweek events on June 16, 30th and July 28th are advised that NASCAR points (not track points) will be awarded to participants.
Due to a scheduling conflict the June 30th event will no longer carry a Race of Champions sanction.
