Dan Green’s Ken’s Towing #46 Looked Hot For A Beautiful Saturday Night! (SDS Photo)

Coatesville, PAJune 18, 2016 – The beautiful weather had 20 NASCAR Whelen All-American BRC Dirt Late Models sign in the pits at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night. The G & H Motorsports Ken’s Towing #46 was one with high hopes at the beginning of the night.

Heat Race

Dan started 5th in the second 8 lap heat race right behind Ron Kline #3. The green flag waved and Dan hit the gas as 4th starter Brian Shuey #177 slipped in between. The race went non-stop and Dan tried different lines around the track to see what the car liked but the track wasn’t in the best of shape already. Drivers never want rain on race day but there is need for a little rain for the track to have the best possible surface, without the rain Grandview’s track crew do what they can to give the racers a great surface. Dan ended the race in the same spot as he started, 5th.

Team goes to work

Jim Alexander, Phil Jelke, Scott Green, Cathy Green, Debbie Dutter, Mike Wynne and Brett Higginbotham went to work and had the NGK Spark Plug #46 ready for the Feature Event as the night was going quickly with all classes going through their heat races with minimal issues.

Feature Event

Lined up in 6th for the 25 lap Feature Event Dan took the green and had a heated battle with Bryan Sipe #33s for 5th spot. Dan would get under Sipe going into the turns but just couldn’t get the bite coming out. The battle went on for a number of laps, at one time Dan went to the high side and lost a few spots just because the track was just one lane but you have to try to go where the other driver is not! As the race progressed Dan fell back as far as 12th but worked his way back up to 9th at the checker. The team is still getting top ten’s but it’s not what we expect for finishes. The 9th place finish has Dan sitting in 6th spot in points. The top 6 are separated by 141 points so places change each week. The competition in the Late Model class is very strong!

Congratulations - Saturday Night Winners

Bernheisel Race Components Late Models went to Chuck Schutz #1 for his second win of 2016. T. P. Trailers Modified winner was 10x Modified Champion, Jeff Strunk #126 for his first win of the year. The 40 Lap Sportsman Summer Splash winner was Paul Kline #1 for his first win this year.

Its good to see both Sean Merkel #118 and Lou Egrie Jr #4e in the pit area as they continue to recover from their injuries.
