2019 Season Starts at Selinsgrove Speedway for Dan Green And the #46 Super Late Model!

First Race of the Season

The Hot Rod Processing #46 driven by Dan Green got the season started at the Wide Open Selinsgrove Speedway in the Super Late Model Division! After a long winter getting the Super Late Model ready for the 3rd year of racing at the fast half mile speedway, Dan took to the track for warm-ups. Dan posted the 14th fastest time of the 21 Supers that were signed in for the night’s program.

Selinsgrove Speedway (PA)

For the First points race of the 2019 season, Dan started 4th in the 3rd heat, drove steady for the 8 scheduled laps and finished 4th at the checker! As the feature was a heads up start, Dan lined up 12th for the first feature of the year. This was Dan’s first start of the year but most of the drivers starting in front of him had a few races in at a few other tracks. Driving smart and not taking too many chances, the NGK Spark Plugs #46 came home 11th. Not a bad start to the year, a finish and brought the car home in 1 piece! The pit crew of Brett, Scott, Cathy, Jim, and Gavin had Dan ready to go all night and Jennifer, Austin and mascot Soldier kept us all motivated!! The team missed Debbie as she is always with us but with a concussion and a broken foot she has been side-lined for a while. We all wish her a speedy recovery and say “Thanks” for coming to the garage before we loaded up - although her husband, Butch, forbade her from touching anything!! LOL get well Deb! If you happen to see the 46 trailer on the way to or from the track please be aware that Dan’s Mom Cathy is behind the trailer towing the 4-wheeler with the Ridgeline– just stay on your side of the road or as far back as you can…this is a driver in training for towing…and Brett is the trainer!!!

Friends at Other Tracks:

Geezer Fanelli stepped back from the drivers seat to give a young driver a well-deserved opportunity to pilot his #22 Modified at Grandview Speedway this year. Richie Hitzler has several championships in an Xcel 600cc modified and enthusiastically took on the role of driver for Geezer. His 1st race was the Bruce Rogers Memorial Money Maker. With 50 modifieds signed in, including small & big block mods, it was a very tough place to begin a career in the bigger modified. Richie did very well and learned a lot even though he didn’t make it to the main event. Next week will start his regular season points chase at Grandview. Best of Luck to both Richie and Geezer!

Nathan Mohr raced in his Grandview Sportsman opener and did very well until a valve spring broke ending his night. I am sure he will be back at it next week.....this young man has a lot of talent and we will see him in victory lane again! Be sure to follow him!

Danny Snyder and Bryan Bernheisel both raced their Super Late Models with Dan at Selinsgrove for the opener. Bryan brought his #119 home in 2nd place and Danny finished in 4th with his #4S. Jim Bernheisel will make a few starts at Selinsgrove this year and ran the season opener bringing his #171 home in 6th. Its great to race with the Bernheisels as they have become such a huge part of our 46 team! Pit neighbors, friends, a family team, and down-right good people! They also have the best supply of racing stuff around at Bernheisel Race Components in Jonestown, PA!! (Gotta have a plug for them...and the Lazer is a great chassis!)

Drew Weisser unfortunately had quite a bit of damage last week racing and will be out of competition for a bit. Can’t wait to see him back on the dirt in his 358 Limited Late Model!

Patrick O’Brien began his season with the BMS Series at Selinsgrove this week. He started and finished 8th and is looking forward to 2019 and his karting each week!
