Perseverance Was Key To The Night For Dan Green #46 Super Late Model!

Rough Track Makes For Rough Night At Selinsgrove Speedway!

Regular Night for the G & H Team

A little perspective on the day: Team member Debbie is down with a broken foot suffered & concussion over the winter months...Team member Jim wasn’t able to join the trip to Selinsgrove....Dan’s two boys were not with the team and that meant no Gavin with us! Then we got to the track to find out we forgot the power cord for the generator to have electric in the trailer. Luckily Jennifer and Page, with Soldier, were able to stop at the shop before heading to the track so we did end up getting electric later. The crew of Scott, Brett, and Cathy would have their night cut out for them making sure Dan had everything he needed! That’s racing – challenges around every corner!! Next week we hope to have all but Deb with us and not have to call the reinforcements to bring any forgotten items!!

Selinsgrove Speedway (PA)

With a great pill pull (#16) Dan would start the #46 in heat #2 on the outside pole. He had a great start staying with Danny Snyder #4S but coming out of turn two he hit one of the many ruts in the track causing quite a bit of discomfort in his arm and hampered the way Dan needed to drive the 8 Laps so he dropped back to finish 7th. The reason the track had ruts was because the speedway had 40 truck loads of clay put down over the off season and it takes time for the clay to mesh with the existing clay, with that there was a lot of rain during the week which makes it even hardier for the meshing to take place. This issue is no fault of the track it is just an “outdoor racing on dirt thing”. Between the Heat and Feature Dan had his arm and shoulder looked at and with some stretching and ice he was deemed fine to race, nothing was going to stop him from racing in the feature! 20th starting spot is where Dan lined up for the feature and with the car feeling good he raced steady till he hit another rut this time in turn three and the car spun around. Dan was not the only driver having issues with the rough conditions as several cars were unable to finish the 25 lap feature.   Dan persevered to finish in the 8th spot for a super top 10 finish in only the second race of 2019. This was a night that the whole team (as small as we were) never gave up and Dan drove with the determination to show us he wouldn’t give up!

Danny Snyder raced Selinsgrove with his Super Late Model and was “super strong” as he finished 2nd in the feature! Another great finish for the #4S team!

Brian Bernheisel had a mechanical failure on his #119 Super Late Model while on the pace lap for the feature at Selinsgrove. He started the race at the rear of the field and had to pull off after 2 laps to avoid any further impact on the car. Next week I am sure we will see him up front where he usually is!

Friends at Other Tracks:

Richie Hitzler, piloting the Geezmo Racing #22 for Geezer Fanelli, drove his 2nd race in the modified at Grandview. He ran the heat and consi but fell short of qualifying for the feature. Talking to Richie on Monday you could hear the enthusiasm as he learns the track and the car. Geezer and Richie are excited with the progress and the determination to succeed.

Nathan Mohr raced in his Sportsman at Grandview and again was fighting the engine gremlins in the #17m. He was 1st alternate for the feature but unfortunately all the qualifiers made the show so he watched the feature. No worries folks......the car is fixed and ready for action.

Patrick O’Brien ran at Shellhammers and took home a 3rd in Super Heavy and a 5th in Animal 375. Great start for the season!!
